This is crazy. I’m just gonna say it. Leaving the country for 9 months to go to 4 different countries to spread the gospel and all at the same time, living out of a backpack. Me a couple of years ago might have been interested, but would have never have acted upon it.

My journey to World Race Gap Year started near the end of my junior year. I was just about to become a senior and the thoughts of college and plans after high school were about to become a reality. People began to ask me everywhere I went about what I wanted to do after high school and which college I would go to. To be honest, I had no idea. I knew that the traditional college route was never appealing to me and I wanted to look into something different. All my life I was so interested in missions work and found it fascinating. So with that idea I started my own research with good ole google. I somehow stumbled upon The World Race. I was immediately interested and basically studied the website like my life depended on it. I saw the Gap Year program and thought that it was exactly what I was looking for. So with all of my research, I first took it to God. I prayed and prayed so hard about what my plan was in life and how I had suddenly tooken a shift and found this program. I was pretty clear that this was something I needed to pursue. I then went to my parents. Now with my lovely parents, I knew that I needed my research and a plan. So I gathered all of my evidence and they thought that it was a great idea. From the beginning they were fully supported and wanted me to follow what God had planned for me. So…I ended up applying. I applied and I read on the application that I would hear back in a couple of days. I was pretty nervous but what made me more nervous was it took a little bit longer for them to respond to me. I started praying and praying and asking God that if this wasn’t what I was supposed to do to show me and if this was his plan for me, that they would call me that very same day. And sure enough, I got a call a couple hours later saying that I was accepted.

And that’s how I got to where I am now. I’ve already began my fundraising and have reached the goal of $5,000! I thank God everyday for providing for me and I can’t believe I am going to go on this crazy adventure. And even though this is crazy, I know that this is the crazy that God wants for me.

One response to “How did I get here?”
