One week down in Guatemala. And let me just tell you, it has already been crazy good. Before I get into the juicy stories, I’ll do a run down of how our weeks are going to be looking here in Guate. So Monday’s, Tuesday’s, and Friday‘s are spent with a ministry called Dar Para Dar. Monday’s and Friday‘s are spent doing ATL, which stands for Ask The Lord, in a small town up in the mountains. And then in the afternoons we do a kid’s club with all the neighborhood kids where we play some games and teach them a small lesson about Jesus. Tuesdays are spent up in Prayer Mountain. We are doing manual labor there trying to build a future prayer house and retreat. Wednesday’s are spent doing ATL in one of 4 small towns in the mountains where there is barely any Christianity and heavy witchcraft. And Thursday’s are our activation day. That is where we have a teaching in the morning about a topic and then the rest of the day we either stay on base or go out into the city to activate the topic that we learned about to the local people. And then we have our Adventure days on Saturday‘s and our sabbath on Sunday’s. Now onto some cool things God has shown me. Last Wednesday was our first ministry day and we were doing the ATL. So we were on our way up the mountain through a city and my team leader asked to stop at this man. So we all got out and got to pray with the man. After that we all stopped and asked the Lord to show us anything to look for and my teammate said that he saw a green building with a brown door. We had no idea what that meant, but we were then on the hunt. So we ended up stopping at another lady’s house and she invited us in. We got to meet her daughters and pray for the whole family. We were still looking for the house when one teammate looked across the mountain and found a green house with a brown door. We were about to go towards that house when we looked behind us and our ministry host noticed that a school behind us was yellow, but the chipped paint revealed that the original color of the building was green. And it had a brown door. Yeah. Crazy. So we got to pray over the school and the teachers and students. All of the sudden while I was praying, I looked up the street and saw this man waving at me to come up the hill. Now it was like I saw this man but I didn’t at the same time. It was weird. And every time I looked up at the street I saw the same man and we was waving the same way. So I thought a little bit about how I was going to tell the group that I saw this man that actually wasn’t there but was there and he was telling us to go up the street. So I told everyone that I thought we should keep walking up the street. So we walked up to this one house with a courtyard and all of the little kids were outside trying to hit all these little fruits off of a tree. And right next to that house was another building that was bright green and had a brown door. So I stopped in front of that house and prayed for a good bit about what to do next. I then looked back at the street and saw the same man and he made a stopping motion with his hands and looked at the house with the kids. I was like okay God, I see what you mean. So I walked into the house with the team and got to talking with the family. And it was really good. We talked with the family and got to learn their background and more about their family. Then we go to the faith conversation. We learned that they think that God’s love for them depends on their works. That God is disappointed whenever they make any mistake. And we got to encourage them and tell them that God loves us where we are at and it doesn’t matter how many good things we do or how many bad things we do. God is going to love us unconditionally. At that point I looked back and saw the man again. This time he just gave me a big smile and walked back up the street and disappeared. We ended the conversation with a powerful prayer and them inviting us back to have a whole church service at their house and they would invite the whole town. I walked away from that day grateful. Just grateful for how good God is. And grateful for how God is able to speak to us. That experience wasn’t for me to boast about and get excited for how it affected me. But to lead us to that house where we were going to meet that family and have that important conversation just to encourage them in their walk with the Lord. Now this is just the beginning. I and my whole squad are so expectant of how God is going to use us throughout this time in Guate and are so excited to meet more amazing people like that family. God is so good.
