Let’s just start off this blog by saying this week has been the most crazy week in the best way possible. I am not the same person I was a week ago. Now let’s just get into it. We started the week off at a hotel in Atlanta for our parent launch where I said bye to Mom and Dad and finally met my squad for the first time in person. It was also my 19th birthday which was celebrated a lot differently than expected. It just was a whirl wind of a day and meeting new people is exciting. Sunday was when we arrived in Gainesville for Training Camp. We set up all of our tents and immediately went straight into sessions and worship. The amount of information that we have taken in this week is unreal. It is so hard to comprehend it all when we don’t have that much time between everything. It is easy to come into something like this and think that it is gonna be easy and fun. And yes some things have been that, but it has been pretty difficult. But a nice difficult. It has been challenging and fun to learn all this new information and to be tested with my faith. This week has been full of sessions, worship, dish washing, bucket showers, wet laundry, fights about food, and us all being a little hungry. This next couple of weeks we have much more training and we are getting to travel to Kentucky to work with Samaritans Purse to help with flood relief. I am starting to get to know this squad and I can already tell it’s going to be a good one. A squad that is going to be tested but a squad that is going to come together when needed. I am just so excited for what this next 9 months has in store for us.

  4. I love your perspective. You are getting to do some “hard things” that are preparing you for more hard things … and all for God’s glory. I am excited to hear of your amazing story being built moment by moment.
If it were easy with nearly zero emotionality, this chapter of your story would not be worth remembering. I hope and pray that you and your fellow racers write a thrilling story well worth remembering. #LiveBoldly

  5. So amazing to hear how God has been at work so much already in the short tome you’ve been gone. Although it feels like forever. Can’t wait to hear how the rest of training goes. Keeping you and your squad in prayer. Love you bro!

  6. I know that I am coming late to the party. I can’t believe that this blog is only 3 weeks old, yet it seems like a lot has changed or is changing. So glad you’re getting to know your squad and you can tell it’s a good one. Also happy to hear that you are being challenged spiritually in your beliefs and your faith. That is a good thing as long as you keep seeking Him. I am certain that you will pass the tests and grow closer to the Lord as a result. Thanks for serving.

  7. This is an exciting update and can’t wait to see God continue to work in your life. We will continue to pray for you and your squad. Weldon, we are so proud of you and Love you very much!
